The Eagles of Death Metal open up about their night of terror at the Bataclan

The Eagles of Death Metal gave their first interview after the Paris attacks to VICE. They recount the tragic night at the Bataclan and tell how they escaped from the theatre.

The night of 13 November, the Californian group Eagles of Death Metal (EODM) was performing at the Bataclan theatre, historic Parisian venue built in 1865 that can host up to 1,500 people.

That night, a group of gunmen burst into the theatre and opened fire randomly. They killed 89 people. Shortly after the attack, the band and its staff didn’t release interviews or official declarations. But they eventually told their story to VICE, news channel the band has many times collaborated with .

“I cannot wait to go back to Paris. I cannot wait to play. I wanna be the first band to play at the Bataclan when it opens back, because I was there when it went silent,” said band’s singer Jesse Hughes. Here’s the integral video of their story about that night of terror.
