10 office plants to improve indoor air quality, and your mood

It is scientifically proven. Office plants enhance your productivity, your mood and reduce indoor pollution. Here are 10 plants to grow in your office.

Who wouldn’t be delighted to work in a more colourful, cozy, and healthier environment? The solution is enriching your desks and offices with plants.

Several scientific studies, published over the last few years, show how greener offices improve wellbeing and enhance productivity. The latest study has been carried out by the Psychology University of Queensland, Australia, and published by the Journal of Experimental Psychology. Co-author Alexander Haslam said that “office landscaping helps the workplace become a more enjoyable, comfortable and profitable place to be. It appears that in part this is because a green office communicates to employees that their employer cares about them and their welfare. Employees from previously lean office environments experienced increased levels of happiness, resulting in a more effective workplace.”

Marlon Nieuwenhuis, from the Cardiff University’s School of Psychology, monitored different workplaces in the UK and the Netherlands, showing the same results. “Although previous laboratory research pointed in this direction, our research is, to our knowledge, the first to examine this in real offices, showing benefits over the long term. It directly challenges the widely accepted business philosophy that a lean office with clean desks is more productive.”
