Christian Elia

I’m a professional journalist and together with Angelo Miotto I founded and currently direct the magazine Q Code Mag, with freelance contributions on international politics, culture and rights.

For nine years I was a correspondent first for PeaceReporter then E – il mensile, with a focus on the Middle East, Balkans and Mediterranean. I’ve conducted reportages in forty countries, published by more than twenty Italian and international media outlets.

I’m specialised in armed and social conflicts, especially around resources, and am convinced that the only editorial line worth following is that based on the collective interest. I’m part of the Water Grabbing Observatory.

Since 2011, I’ve veered towards a narrative journalism that goes to the heart of issues, independent of the news cycles – that doesn’t only report on things once they’ve happened but shines a light on them even before they could happen. I’ve written books and produced documentaries, my reportages have won the Baldoni Prize, Premio Giornalisti del Mediterraneo, IMMaginario DOC Festival and a special mention at the Siani Reportage Prize and “il Reportage” Prize.
