Stay for the Planet (in Italian, English website coming) is the sustainability rating system conceived by LifeGate's scientific committee, aiming to help hotels and hotel chains monitor their environmental performance, improve energy efficiency and cut CO2 emissions thanks to virtuous actions.
For instance, would you like to stay in a hotel that recycles waste or produces energy with solar panels? Or eat at a hotel restaurant which only uses local food?
On the basis of five fundamental aspects (energy, water, waste, acquisitions and behaviours) hotels are awarded from 1 to 5 LifeGate leaves and a specific evaluation of every one of the five areas is made, with suggestions for improving sustainability.
Energy and water consumption and the amount of waste generated are compared with European averages. Hotels can pinpoint their commitments and achievements in relation to these three parameters (carbon footprint, energy consumption, water footprint), comparing them with those of similar facilities with the objective of further improving their ranking.
Visit the website and find out which hotels have adhered to the Stay for the Planet initiative before booking your next holiday.
