Healthy ageing. The ageing of the world's population poses great social, cultural and economic challenges, as well as in all areas connected to health. Perhaps the most important aspect of them all is that of food and nutrition, the theme of Expo.
Adequate nutrition in an important prerequisite for maintaining health in all phases of life, becoming even more critical and determining in the ageing phase. The problem of malnutrition in the senior population is often seriously underestimated and, when an intervention is made, it is automatically a pharmacological one. In truth, scientific and non-scientific evidence increasingly shows that through adequate nutrition (sustainable and accessible) and a correct lifestyle the effects on well-being and longevity can be much more significant. Effects that are amplified when combined with adequate social inclusion.
For this reason, the Women&Technology programme's committee has decided to tackle the topic of healthy ageing in one of its thematic dialogues, contributing to the foundational themes of the Expo Women Global Forum: people, gender and generations. The topic will be tackled on the 1st of July through a talk-show format where experts and witnesses from the field will transmit what the present and future are of this important challenge for our planet, in a simple, practical/direct and interactive way.
