Behind Energy is an initiative that aims to shed light on the true costs of energy and promote energy transparency. It is a hub that aggregates news, research, studies and international documents on the theme of energy and classifies them according to a specific point of view: the social, economic, environmental and civil impacts of energy policies.
The Behind Energy project is borne out of the decade-long experience of investors in a number of sectors and over 10 years in the energy sector. With the passing of time it has become apparent that the world of energy is characterised by a lack of transparency, especially if its true costs and impacts are to be understood.
In the course of the 20th Century fossil fuels have represented and been the vehicle of an incredible opportunity for development around the world but have also given rise to negative externalities for the whole of humanity, one among many being the greenhouse effect.
Behind Energy proposes a 360-degree view on energy beginning precisely from the concept of externalities in the attempt to give a global vision that takes into account not only production costs but also the (economic) effects of subsidies, pollution, energy security, health, etc.
Behind Energy’s mission is to stimulate an objective discussion with the goal of leaving behind a biased view that divides the world between goodies and baddies, right and wrong, supporters and detractors of the various sources. We want to shift the view on energy supply from the ethical dimension to the economic/pragmatic one, considering all those costs that aren’t computed today.
