Within Vohitsampana Reserve reforestation and preservation interventions have been carried out over an area of 270,000 square metres, and 1,087,830 kg of CO2 emissions have been offset.
The project was launched in 2003 and new areas were added in 2007, reaching the size of 27 hectares. In the same year a nursery was created thanks to the intervention of the American Eden reforestation association.
The nursery has been designated to producing local and native plants. The nursery production capacity integrates the current initiatives of the “Foreste per Sempre” (Forests Forever) project in Madagascar in collaboration with the Malagasy Environment Ministry and the Forests' general manager.
