Stay for the Planet (in Italian, English website coming) is the sustainability rating system conceived by LifeGate's scientific committee, aiming to help hotels and hotel chains monitor their environmental performance, improve energy efficiency and cut CO2 emissions thanks to virtuous actions. These might be recycling, installing solar panels, buying local food to be used in hotel restaurants, and many more.
On the basis of five fundamental aspects (energy, water, waste, acquisitions and behaviours) hotels are awarded from 1 to 5 LifeGate leaves and a specific evaluation of every one of the five areas is made, with suggestions for improving sustainability.
Energy and water consumption and the amount of waste generated are compared with European averages. Hotels can pinpoint their commitments and achievements in relation to these three parameters (carbon footprint, energy consumption, water footprint), comparing them with those of similar facilities with the objective of further improving their ranking.
LifeGate helps all hospitality structures communicate at best their adhesion to Stay for the Planet. It confers value to the brand and promotes it within a community interested in responsible travel and hospitality services with low environmental impacts.
