A credit collection agency certified by Ethical Debt Collection guarantees all interested parties (sending companies, collectors, call centre collectors and debtors) that its credit collection processes are carried out transparently and according to ethical guidelines.
The structure of the Standards
The Ethical Debt Collection Standards are organized as a matrix which links different requirements. A credit collection agency can choose to receive certification for in person collection and/or phone collection activities. The tool is divided into three thematic macro-areas:
1) General approach to credit collection
2.a) In person collection activity
2.b) Phone collection activity
Companies' performance is categorised into three certification levels (linked to increasing performance) in order to incentivise progress and create a “virtuous” competition among certified companies. Only those companies that comply with all binding requirements of the general area "General approach to credit collection" and the specific certification area they have chosen, can receive the certification.
