It impossible to talk about Italian organic production without mentioning Marco Roveda, LifeGate's founder along with Simona Roveda. In 1986, thanks to "Fattoria Scaldasole", they created a biodynamic farm paving the way to the spread of organic agriculture within the Italian market. Doing business whilst respecting nature and promoting interest towards organic products, Fattoria Scaldasole has played a key role in the development of organic agriculture.
At the age of 27, after a brief but significant experience in the construction sector, Marco Roveda decided to leave his job and travel, bringing him to Carona, in Ticino, Switzerland. There, he had the chance to get in touch with nature, rediscovering the ancient rhythms of the Earth. During that period, he learned about the principles of biodynamic agriculture. After a few years he returned to Italy and decided to adopt a new philosophy of life. In 1986, he founded Fattoria Scaldasole with Simona Roveda.
Already in 1986 Fattoria Scaldasole was ahead of its times in terms of safe and healthy products. In the wake of its success, 60,000 organic distribution and production companies turned Italy into the number one organic producer in Europe: an industry which continues to grow notwithstanding the current economic downturn. Fattoria Scaldasole products, all coming from certified organic or biodynamic agriculture, range from yoghurt to milk and from desserts to freshly-squeezed orange juices (the first to be sold on global markets).
