Within Antsanitia Reserve reforestation and preservation interventions have been carried out over an area of 1,890,000 square metres, and 5,076,540 kg of CO2 emissions have been offset.
The project has been carried out in collaboration with the Eco Volunteer Guards of Modena, Italy. The reforested area extends over 189 hectares and the intervention aims to recover a formerly forested area. In order to facilitate new plants in setting their roots, maintenance of firebreaks is guaranteed in order to reduce the risk of fires.
The local community benefits from 7 hectares of land set aside for planting eucalyptus trees for the production of firewood and coal for domestic use only.
