The 26th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26, will be held in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2020. The pre-COP will take place in Milan, Italy.

Fiat Lux, the Vatican becomes home to the world’s richest biodiversity

Paris and Rome are linked by the love for the Earth, the environmental protection, and the will of doing something tangible to reverse global warming. On 8 December, the day the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy has begun, the St Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican has been lit up by a light show of environmental pictures portraying tens of endangered animal species. Meanwhile at COP21, in France’s capital, delegates from 196 countries were debating the details of the agreement that will save us from the climate catastrophe.
The extraordinary projection was made possible thanks to internationally renowned photographers. Sebastião Salgado (Genesis), Joel Sartore (National Geographic Photo Ark), Yann Arthus Bertrand (Human), David Doubilet, Ron Fricke e Mark Magidson (Samsara), Howard Hall, Shawn Heinrichs, Greg Huglin, Chris Jordan, Steve McCurry, Paul Nicklen, and Louie Schwartzberg, among others.
Fiat Lux: Illuminating our Common Home has been organised by the group of NGOs Connect4Climate and by the climate programme of the World Bank. Pope Francis also published the encyclical on climate (Laudato Si’), showing particular attention on issues like biodiversity protection, circular economy and climate change.
