Marco Roveda

President

Founded LifeGate in 2000, with the aim of promoting ethical values of respect for humankind and the global ecosystem. This journey began in 1986 with the establishment of Fattoria Scaldasole, which became the first company to use organic farming practices in Italy, and the fourth Italian company in the yoghurt industry. In a short period of time, over 60,000 businesses, inspired by Fattoria Scaldasole’s success, started producing organic goods, allowing Italy, formerly last, to rank first in organic production in Europe. Marco has been living in the province of Como since 1981, in the first passive solar-powered house built in Italy, which he designed. It was the location of Fattoria Scaldasole's commercial farm, and it currently hosts the first solar tracking photovoltaic park in Italy.

In 1997 he was awarded the “Entrepreneur of the Year” prize by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, in the “Quality of Life” category.

In 2008 he was awarded the “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” prize by the World Economic Forum of Davos, which elects the best social entrepreneurs in thirty countries.

In 2010 he became member of the WorldShift Council on the G20 (WS20).

  • Perché ce la faremo (Why we'll make it), Ponte alle Grazie, 2004
